YAMAHA'S OFF FAIRWAY (UTILITY) DIVISION IMPACTS MARKET

  Yamaha is riding the crest of the most successful utility line of products in the history of the company. The U-Max family of 5 vehicle platforms is being ordered faster than Yamaha can build the units.
  The design of the U-Max product line is the direct result of surveys from Yamaha's advisory members in the field and from the Superintendents around the country.
"We simply asked our current customers what they needed most in a utility vehicle," said Jon Bammann - Marketing Manager at Yamaha.
  The base car - MD 1 is available in gas and electric and both are versatile enough to perform even the most challenging task. The gas units have the industry leading 357cc - 11.4 horsepower engine that not only provides plenty of power but also allows the car to haul up to 800lbs of payload along with a driver and passenger. This power is controlled with self-adjusting individual drum shoe brakes on all 4 wheels making it safe to negotiate even the most difficult terrain.
  All the U-Max's are equipped with the custom ATV style evil eye head lights for those early mornings when the golfer is sleeping but the golf course crews are hard at work. The U-Max units are outfitted with special 6-ply turf tires to minimize damage on even the most fragile fairways. One of the most popular features is the U-Max Roto-molded hydraulic assisted dump bed. This bed is made of strong linear polyethylene and is virtually indestructible as well as rattle proof. The superintendents have been pleased to find a DC power adapter standard in 4 of the 5 models so they are never without power to electronics and tools of the trade. While new to the scene, golf crews around the country are coming to rely on Yamaha's U-Max Off Fairway (Utility) Vehicles for their entire daily maintenance schedule.
