Ansi Standards To Be Revised For Golf Cars And Personal Transportation Vehicles

Intention to revise both the ANSI/ILTVA Z130.1-2012 and ANSI/ILTVA Z135-2012, respectively Golf Car and PTV Safety and Performance Standards, have been announced in ANSI Standards Action and shortly will be pending public comment and canvass review. Public comments are welcome and, if received prior to July 31, 2018, will be considered by the Sponsor, International Light Transportation Vehicle Association, Inc., (“ILTVA”). ILTVA is the accredited standards developer of both ANSI/ILTVA Z130.1 and ANSI/ILTVA Z135.

Proposed revisions result from consideration of factors such as technological advances, new data and changing environmental needs. Revisions do not imply that current editions are inadequate. Revisions to the standards were prepared by the ILTVA Engineering Specifications Committee. The proposed revisions to the standards are intended to cancel and replace ANSI/ILTVA Z130.1-2012 and ANSI/ILTVA Z 135-2012 and apply only to vehicles manufactured subsequent to their publication. However, original equipment manufacturers will have up to two years following publication to comply with the standards.

Scope of PTV revisions contemplated include without limitation, increasing the number of occupants and to include a wider range of vehicle types used in similar manner and location as PTVs.

Copies of the existing Z130.1-2012 golf car Standard and Z135-2012 PTV Standard may be obtained from ILTVA at https://www.iltva.org/standards.

Requests for information concerning these standards, or comments and expressions of interest in participation should be addressed to the International Light Transportation Vehicle Association, Inc., c/o Fred L. Somers, Jr., 5579-B Chamblee Dunwoody Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30338 or by email to [email protected].
