5 GOLF CAR INDUSTRY TRENDS TO WATCH FOR IN 2020

The golf car industry is a $1+ billion industry and still growing. Although they are still referred to as “golf” cars, we are seeing an ever-growing need when it comes to transportation. Industry use at hotels and hospitals and residential use in master planned communities are both on the rise. Here is what we can expect to see this upcoming year.

Improved Efficiency and Environmental Friendliness
Similar to the automotive sector, we will continue to see a push towards “greener” golf cars. As battery power continues to improve, golf cars will leave less of a carbon footprint than they do now. Improved solar technology will allow golf car owners to avoid using electricity for charging.

Technologically Advanced and Safer
A variety of technological advances will be adopted this upcoming year, allowing for syncing with smart devices. Fully loaded golf cars will be rolled out in the nation’s most prestigious country clubs. Launch monitors, remote capabilities, and GPS systems that aid with golf club selection and weather conditions will become more commonplace. An emphasis on technologies that improve golf car safety will also be a focus, as the number of golf car related deaths rose in 2019.

Increased Golf Car Friendly Communities
In addition to master planned communities which are historically golf car friendly, we will continue to see more traditional communities adopt rules allowing for golf cars. During 2019, several law changes were made across the country allowing for the daily use of golf cars within communities.

Modified Golf Cars to Meet Growing Needs
Modifications will continue to improve during the upcoming year to accommodate growing transportation needs. It will become rare to see two person golf cars, as four person cars are becoming standard. Golf cars that seat as many as 16 passengers will continue to hit the market as a transportation solution. Additionally, modifications making golf cars more accessible to persons with disabilities will also continue to improve.

Always Better Than the Neighbors
In a continuing push to always have the best golf car on the block, aftermarket accessories and flashy upgrades will continue to dazzle us in 2020. Upgraded batteries and speed technology and reimagined body styles will continue to be bigger and better than prior years. And for those in colder states, heater and enclosure technology will allow you to cruise around all year.

As people around the world continue to fall more in love with golf cars, 2020 will prove to be another exciting year. Owning a golf car is becoming more commonplace and 2020 will offer even more reasons for people of all ages to join the golf car culture that we all love.
