Wheelmate Golf, a division of Mackin Industries has been serving collective industries for 46 years strong. With a startup in 1972 importing Japanese grade lug nuts for then known giant Superior Industries in Van Nuys, CA (previous OEM supplier of aluminum wheels to FORD, GM, Chrysler, Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Mercedes and the like) Mackin was the first to offer imported Japanese steel lug nuts at a time when the only trusted and proven lug nuts were those manufactured by domestic manufacturers.
A lot has transpired since those early days and with a directive towards supplying the needs of a growing distribution base, lug nuts and wheel accessories quickly gave way to other automotive aftermarket products to include a more specialized motorsports offering. Fast forward to 2003, with managements intrinsic love for the sport of golf and a passion to see wheel fashion statements beyond the then standard 8.0” steel Kenda H-N-O, the Wheelmate Golf division was created. Soon, development was underway on their first 10” aluminum rim. In sequential order came the T2/E & P-Series (also known as the original 14-Spoke) followed next by the 12” F/G & H-Series. The next collection release included the CASINO (C-10) and J-Series (J-10) in both 10” not to mention unveiling the Industry’s first 13” Steel Belted Radial (S.B.R.) C-13 & J-13 assembly packages which is catching the market by storm!
According to Bailey, “This new S.B.R. package is poised to become the next big game-changer as the latest appointment in dynamic tire and wheel assembly technology catches on. Similar by comparison to what the S.B.R. tire introduction did across the highways of our nation for the vast majority of passenger vehicles from the mid-60’s through the early 70’s as the proliferation of S.B.R. tire construction became more mainstream.” Bailey adds, “This package literally transforms the feel and drive characteristics of all Golf Cars, NEV, LSV, PTV platforms and requires little to no suspension modification for overall fitment across all golf vehicle platforms.”
For the current lineup, Wheelmate Golf is pleased to announce the introduction of the latest V-Series in both 10” (V-10) & 12” (V-12). “We are stocked and ready to roll out”, says Bailey. He adds, “The latest V design elements incorporate a traditional mesh center with ‘V’ Spoke windows and a wide front-lip face borrowed from its predecessor the former P-Series.” Upon further examination, we noticed that overall design enhancements include a new stream-lined center cap, deep lug pockets and an upgraded emblem badge. You can’t help but notice the quality of each component part not to mention the specially cool all dope satin black center cap with eye-bopping emblem badge which comes standard on the special all new Color-Clear finishes. V-Series finishes include traditional Black & Silver Machine, NEW Bronze & Gunmetal Color-Clear and premium Chrome finish.
As mentioned in the 2018 March/April GCA issue under the Industry Update section, Mackin is happy to be selected as KENDA’s first Authorized Distributor to introduce the NEW line-up of 12” & 14” S.B.R. tires. Bailey attributes this to our vital strategic vendor relationship with Kenda Rubber across his sales tenure. Both the V-12/J-14 to include the D-Series (D-14) are all perfect choices for mounting to either of the two Kenda S.B.R. tire fitments (215/40R-12 or 205/35R-14).
